Kat and Shane | Black Balsam Knob Mountain Intimate Wedding | Asheville Wedding Photographer

We hiked up the Black Balsam Knob trail of the Pisgah National Forest. To a spot Kat and Shane have become familiar over the years; one of their favorites. As the sun set and a barely there mist covered the mountain top, Kat and Shane said I Do in front of the people that love them the most. Intimate weddings are my favorite weddings to capture. When you strip away all the pomp and circumstance of wedding planning, and leave only love, in a place that you love, with the people you love, you just can’t go wrong. Grab some tea, curl up in your fav blanket and take in these epic views. And maybe even start planning an adventurous intimate wedding of your own.

From Kat:

We met at the grocery store, it's true! We both love to travel, and I was instantly interested in Shane's strong Aussie accent and stories of traveling abroad. On our first date, I laughed so hard that my cheeks hurt..and that was almost 3 years ago. We both love the outdoors, and visit Western North Carolina's mountains quite often and could think of no better place to get married than our favorite hiking spot off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Black Balsam Knob is lush, green, and hosts a gentle mountain breeze and 360 degree views of the Smokey Mountains. We are going to be joined by 12 members of our family, including Shane's mom and brother all the way from Melbourne, Australia, and my best friend of 17 years who is officiating our union. Shane's father, who passed away more than two years ago now, will be present with us in the sense that Shane will be receiving his dad's wedding band to wear as his own.
