Our wedding was almost completely DIY with a Southwestern type theme. We had our ceremony with immediate family only in Nick's parents' back patio and then our full guest list reception in my parents' back yard. Nick wanted a very intimate ceremony, so we opted not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen, just my sister as my maid of honor and Nick's twin brother as his best man. We asked Nick's older sister to be our Officiant. The ceremony was amazing and we both felt not only incredibly connected to each other during the entire process, but also to our family that was there to witness it. For the reception my sister, mother, and I made or collected almost everything. We potted plants and cacti to put on the tables, my dad strung lights from tree to tree circling the yard, my sister hand made macrame decor and small white details on each table, and family/friends let us borrow pots, couches, and more for decor and styling. My girlfriend even made our cake for us as a gift. It was incredible how everyone we love came together and helped us create a beautiful, wonderful, and perfect day.
