los angeles wedding photographer | emily + jake | washington dc wedding

Emily and Jake are simple. They wanted a simple summer wedding to match. By simple I mean, they went as far as no officiant for the wedding simple. You can only do that in a few states, and lucky for them Washington DC is one. Bonus points for their guests being able to grab cocktails as soon as they arrived to the venue (the American Institute of Architects) before the ceremony. The live band played for 6 hours (I think) and guests ate, drank, and were merry the whole way through. The vibe was easy, relaxed, romantic and fun. I loved that Emily and Jake held what felt like a perpetual cocktail hour and all night dance party more so than a big production. Neither one of them like to be in the spotlight too much so they stuck to their guns and threw a celebration that matched their personality. BTW I love DC, its such an easy city to maneuver. After the wedding, my fiancee and I walked a block or two to the White House. Of course it was the one night they didn't have it lit up. Still fun.
